    BACKGROUND

    This position is responsible for ensuring all import and export transactions are completed within applicable government rules and regulations. Position will interface with freight forwarders, US customs officers, custom brokers, internal and external customers on all matters pertaining to customs and export regulations.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review all new customs requirements to ensure continued company compliance with changes and incorporation into day to day operations and standard operating procedures
      • Conducts post entry audits of import and export files
      • Develop and manage binding ruling program
      • Ensure US export control regulations and licensing requirements are met
      • Manage record keeping processes and archive of entry records
      • Coordinate daily import/export compliance tasks
      • Obtain import permits as required
      • Coordinate with Customs brokers to ensure accuracy of import/export documentation
    • Work with Marketing and R&D to determine correct harmonized tariff schedule
    • Performs regulatory audits internally and at customs broker/shipper locations. classifications
      • Country of Origin determination
      • Audit internal operations and broker activities
      • Respond to Customs inquiries and requests for information
      • Develop and conduct import and export training programs
      • Other duties as assigned by Manager

    REQUIREMENTS

    • 1+ years direct experience managing import and/or export compliance programs
    • 3+ years experience in a regulatory environment
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Knowledge of MS office and general computer systems and databases

    PREFERENCES

    • Bachelors Degree in a scientific discipline strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of Chemistry or biology preferred
    • Must be able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast work environment that has the potential to change frequently due to changes in government regulations or business needs
    • Detail oriented with the ability to manage conflicting priorities
    • Excellent judgment, decision & discretion abilities
    • Highly organized
    • Excellent written and verbal skills
