BACKGROUND
We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Analyst to run and extend analysis pipelines for human/mammalian NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data, with a specific focus on Illumina basecalling and exome / whole genome resequencing applications.
The position will report directly to the informatics core facility manager and will involve close interactions with other informatics facility members, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in the group.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Run Illumina basecalling pipeline and perform quality control in collaboration with the NGS lab manager and technicians.
- Run the exome analysis pipeline (alignment, etc.) and perform quality control.
- Manage large data transfer to customers.
- Manage data submission to public repositories.
- Develop custom script and small databases for other NGS data analysis tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
- M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or a related field
- Previous experience with NGS data analysis
- Solid knowledge of scripting languages (Perl, Python, R) and Unix OS is required.
- Previous experience with NGS related to exome/whole genome analysis is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
