RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Summary/Basic Function:
If you have immunology and/or autoimmune disease scientific background and are interested in transitioning to a career in biomedical research/biomedical writing, then we would like to partner with you in this transition. We are seeking a Post-doctoral Fellow who has completed or would like to pursue certification in scientific/biomedical research writing and to build a diverse portfolio of scientific/biomedical writing and editing. Duties will be to develop, write and edit material for various scientific grants, progress reports, applications, manuscripts, reports, web pages and lay publications. Coordinate and assist investigators with progress reports, collaborative applications and annual reports. Convert scientific proposals into lay summaries. Learn about and assist with project management, timelines, grant charts, and milestone tracking. Assist with manuscript submissions, final edits and review of proofs. Maintain familiarity with relevant scientific research. Review published materials and recommend revisions. Select photographs, diagrams and charts to illustrate material. For the applicant with the right skill set and drive, educational expenses to pursue biomedical/scientific writing certification may be provided. The position holds great potential for many scientific publications.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in immunology (or another field if candidate has autoimmunity experience). Ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines essential. Must have excellent verbal/written communication and computer (Database, Internet and Word Processing software) skills. Must have ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in analytic or diagram form.

Doctorate
Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical rheumatology experience a plus. Previous experience with statistics and scientific and/or grant writing strongly preferred. Some statistical, analytic or other bioinformatics experience would be useful. Having published at least three first-author publications would be helpful. Experience with visualization and simple analytic software, such as SpotFire, Prism, SAS or NCSS would be useful.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
