    BACKGROUND

Very exciting job opportunity is just around the corner!

Massive Bio is a healthcare informatics startup specializing in best practices workflows for cancer diagnostics, that deliver simple and intuitive clinically relevant reports for the interpretation of genome sequence data, closely integrated with patient specific clinical information. We started our journey with cancer but our workflows can be easily extended for other therapeutic areas, that benefit from massively parallel DNA sequencing.

We are seeking fulltime or parttime Software Engineers and Bioinformaticians, with a specialization in cancer genomics, preferably residing in or near New York City, to develop novel methods and workflows that process and interpret massive amounts of DNA/mRNA sequence data from popular sequencing platforms.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Design and develop open source software for use in bioinformatics workflows that analyze and interpret next generation sequence (NGS) data for cancer diagnostics
    • Develop standalone tools, web services, and user interfaces for visualizing results
    • Test and benchmark performance, ease of use, and reliability of existing NGS tools
    • Manage databases for sample, sequence, and workflow metadata
    • Work with a multidisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, molecular geneticists, cancer biologists, and oncologists to provide technical support, and participate in the diagnostic workflow development life cycle

    REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field. A master's degree or higher is strongly preferred
    • 35 years of experience in software engineering, bioinformatics, with a deep understanding of cancer biology; 12 years of industry experience preferred
    • Ability to convert customer requirements into product specifications and strong analytical skills for troubleshooting technical or operational issues
    • Experience with Unix, Python, Java, Perl, Docker, and SQL required
    • Experience with user interface (UI) frameworks such as Django/Flask for Python, GWT/JSF/Spring for Java, JavaScript, CSS/HTML
