    BACKGROUND

Human Longevity is constructing a robust sequencing operation to compile the most comprehensive and complete human genotype, microbiome, metabolome, proteome, and phenotype database available. A key focus of Human Longevity's bioinformatic activities will be building the computational and statistical methods to allow for the identification of biologically relevant patterns in this database.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and apply novel statistical, bioinformatics, and data mining algorithms to identify biological patterns
    • Develop and implement methods for assembling, phasing, annotating and characterizing human genomes at an industrial scale
    • Carry out association analyses with sophisticated genotypic, microbiomic, metabolomic, proteomic and phenotypic information
    • Possibly perform in Bioinformatics Sequencing Production capacity

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Ph.D in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science or closely related fields with a focus on applications of next generation sequencing (NGS)
    • Strong programming skills, and the ability to design and prototype computational algorithms in C++, Python, R, Java, or C#
    • Comfortable in a Linux environment
    • Established track record applying innovative methods to drive project success
    • Demonstrate outstanding personal initiative and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
    • Collaborate with diverse scientists from computational and experimental backgrounds
    • Lead, coach, and mentor scientists in the design and execution of innovative research programs
    • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written and communication skills
    • Must have excellent familiarity with computational, statistical or mathematical methods
    • Prior experience working with large-scale genetics and genomics datasets (Big Data)

    PREFERENCES

    • 2+ years' experience in a startup organization
    • 2+ years post-graduate experience
