OMNITEC Solutions, Inc. (http://www.omnitecinc.com) has an employment opportunity available for a mid-level software developer to join our team supporting the National Institute of Mental Health Data Repositories (NIMHDR). NIMHDR currently maintains the National Database of Autism Research (NDAR), which seeks to make all autism research data available for scientific discovery at the NIH, and is expanding to encompass all research data across all of mental health. This is a unique professional opportunity to work with all aspects of a growing enterprise-level system utilizing technical skills in database development, object-oriented design, Web technologies, the cloud, big data, and more.RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to support our complex computational and data environments , this developer will utilize Java, SQL, Web technologies, and best development practices. Past experience working with medical or scientific data is a benefit as is a commitment to help improve the lives of those affected by mental illness.
The ideal candidate will work well with a close-knit team, but also possess a strong sense of self-motivation. Independent thought and new, creative solutions are vital parts of the project's success. While we require a solid object-oriented foundation and experience, senior level expertise is not necessary. We welcome candidates that have an ability to learn new tools and techniques to adapt to the evolving needs of our users.REQUIREMENTS
- A four-year degree in computer science or related field and 4+ years of related professional experience, or 6+ years proven related experience with no degree
- 3+ years Java experience
- 1+ years JSP/JSF experience
- 2+ years SQL/PLSQL experience
- 2+ years working with Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax)
- Full life-cycle development in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication
PREFERENCES
Additional Helpful Skills:- Experience with Spring, Hibernate, and Maven
- Experience with JBoss or Tomcat
- Experience with Amazon cloud/AWS
- Experience with Oracle or similar RDBMS
- Experience with test or interface-driven design
- Modern UI expertise (HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, jQueryUI, etc.)
- The ability to eventually obtain a Secret clearance will enhance career development opportunities
