    BACKGROUND

    The University of Applied Sciences – Hochschule Emden/Leer is looking to enhance the Computational Biology Group at the Faculty of Technology with a bioinformatician at the earliest possible date.

    The University of Applied Sciences – Hochschule Emden/Leer is a driving force for the region and sets standards for innovative developments in the Northwest of Germany. It provides an excellent framework for application-oriented research in the field of computational biology. Possible research topics include, but are not limited to, analysis of epigenetic modifications, next generations sequencing, RNA structure analysis and image analysis.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Independent design and implementation of bioinformatic workflows and analyses
    • Supervision of practical student courses and projects in the fields of computational biology
    • Active contribution to research projects as well as preparation and presentation of research results in appropriate media, publications, and scientific conferences.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • A Master degree (Diploma) or PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics or a comparable degree from an accredited university
    • Strong programming skills in Java. Knowledge of further languages is highly preferred (e.g. Perl, Python, R, C#)
    • Comfortable with the Linux/Unix environment, databases (MySQL)

    TERMS

    Full time, job contract temporary for 4 years

    COMPENSATION

    Salary is in accordance with the German state regulated public service salary scale TV-L E11,
