BACKGROUND
The Duke University Center for Human Disease Modeling is seeking a bioinformatician with near-immediate availability to become a member of our research team. This work will involve performing a variety of duties in a dynamic atmosphere that include development of tools to analyze genomics and transcriptomics data and bioinformatics support for staff. This position includes the opportunity to lead independent research projects.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide training to Center staff and trainees on bioinformatics-related concepts, applications and tools.
- Collaborate with researchers to recommend technology-based solutions, and design computational strategies for a wide range of genomics research with a particular emphasis on whole genome sequencing, whole exome sequencing and RNAseq.
- Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and testing of biocomputing tools as part of the Center genomics program.
- Ensure completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines.
- Analyze and resolve issues that jeopardize performance and/or ability to meet agreed upon deliverables.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education/Training Minimum of a B.S. in the Biological Sciences with demonstrable computational skills; or a B.S. in Computer Science with a strong interest in Biology/Genomics. M.S. preferred.
- Bioinformatics experience with next generation sequencing and human genomics is preferred.
