RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the technical and clinical support of Ambry's oncology clientele within a defined geographic region. The Oncology Genetic Specialist focuses on the training, education, and development of our client base in Cancer Centers, Genetic Offices, Oncology/Surgery offices, Breast Centers and other applicable specialty clinics. The role sometimes includes dealing with customer business/logistics issues such as test ordering and pricing. This role is also responsible for key opinion leader (KOL) development, clinical collaboration with key customers, and adoption of testing services in targeted, appropriate markets. Interfaces with all functional areas including: Sales Reps, Marketing, R&D, Clinical/Reporting, Laboratory, IT, Client Services, Insurance/Billing Services and Regulatory & Quality compliance.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:- Responsible for efficient territory management: coordinating meetings and presentations, regain lost business, prospecting new leads, converting prospects to becoming an Ambry customer, and account maintenance
- Educate and train our client base in a defined territory with a focus on our oncology testing menu
- Establish presence and participation in regional GC associations, oncology/surgical associations, non-profit/patient advocacy groups and other clinical organizations
- Speaking/lecturing at various meetings (academic institutions, advocacy groups and webinars)
- Help create content and develop presentations/slide sets
- Key opinion leader development regionally
- Clinical and scientific collaboration regionally
- Collaborate with Product Manager(s), Sales Manager(s), and Director of Genetic Specialists to expand genetic testing menu utilization in target markets.
- Address customer related issues regionally in conjunction with the Director of Genetic Specialists
- Strategize with the Area Sales Manager and Director of Genetics Specialists to ensure the territory is optimally covered and testing volumes prosper.
- In-service accounts on ordering appropriate testing and clinical utility.
- Field inbound customer calls when in home office during normal business hours.
- Submit monthly reports to the Director of Genetic Specialists.
- Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways, demonstrating good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.
1. Knowledge, skills & abilities:- Experienced, comfortable, and effective at public speaking
- Good organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Lives in a major metropolitan area in the US
- Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Sense of urgency and resourcefulness when needed and ability to meet challenging deadlines
- Able to assert own ideas and persuade others through effectively consolidating, evaluating, and presenting relevant information
- Skilled at promoting team cooperation and a commitment to team success
- Adept at seeing change as an opportunity to improve business performance and campaigning for it when necessary
- Post-baccalaureate degree in Genetic Counseling, Health Science or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
- Board Certified (or Active Candidate) by the American Board of Genetic Counseling, or equivalent board certification for other health care providers.
- 1-3 years related experience in genetics services, product management, and/or sales.
- Experience in genetic counseling and/or genetics laboratory services preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to drive; fly; stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
