    RESPONSIBILITIES

    We are looking for a Principal Informatics Scientist to join our Biomedical Informatics team, delivering patient-focused analytics, in pursuit of our belief in putting patients first.

    Biomedical Informatics is part of AstraZeneca's Advanced Analytics Center, a hub of data scientists dedicated to transforming drug development decision-making through applied data science. As a Principal Informatics Scientist you will integrate AstraZeneca's data with external data, and applying industry-leading visual analytics to derive novel insights. The role will see you contributing to global drug-projects, working on challenges requiring a questioning nature and a keen eye for detail.

    The new era of drug development brings a host of information, which is used for modeling, trial design, simulation and decision-making. Significant opportunities lie in the ways we use this information in the delivery of great medicines. This is where you'll forge your career as an exceptional informatician, quickly responding to drug-project questions and using this insight to lead method development and capability build.

    As Principal Informatics Scientist your main responsibilities will involve:
    • Working closely with our Global Medicines Development clinical study teams to maximize the interpretation of clinical studies
    • Leading the development and delivery of new analytics capabilities across therapeutic areas and patient safety
    • Maintaining a keen interest in biomedical informatics advances, spotting opportunities to test new approaches, and using an entrepreneurial spirit to make them happen
    • Fostering collaborations across our multi-disciplinary Advanced Analytics hub

    REQUIREMENTS

    As Principal Informatics Scientist it's essential that you have:
    • A proven record of delivering biomedical informatics approaches and tools, ideally within a pharmaceutical or healthcare setting
    • A passion for putting patients at the core of your work
    • A flair for designing and implementing visual analytics interfaces
    • A thorough knowledge of biomedicine and the clinical trial process and associated data
    • An ability to develop software prototypes and/or code algorithms (e.g. Python, R, SQL)
    • You career will be built on an MSc or PhD in a relevant biomedical or healthcare field, and cross-disciplinary training in computer science or informatics.
