RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for assisting with data analysis, modeling, visualization, interpretation and quality control of clinical and basic science data. Takes direction from and confers with Bioinformatics Specialists, Statisticians, Senior Bioinformatics Specialists/Statisticians, Bioinformatics/Statistics Architects and Project Managers to solve problems. Apply tools to assist in compiling, computing, manipulating and interpreting data. Maintain documentation.

Benchmark Accountabilities:
  • Assists with providing basic computational support of scientific projects
  • Assist in translating large data into knowledge by performing data cleanup and quality control for data analysis, database translation, data visualization and presentation
  • Assists in deploying, integrating and maintaining publicly available software and databases
  • Requires basic understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures to perform routine duties which requires simple analysis and judgment
  • Ability to investigate and resolve basic problems with hardware, software and other computer- or related technologies
  • Assists team to design, implement and support novel software tools, web and database systems for scientific data analyses
  • Assist with basic data workflow automation and process development by interviewing, documenting and analyzing client needs
  • Provides basic user training and assistance to staff
Continues to stay abreast of changing technologies and new products to support and enhance job performance.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge in mathematical, programming, database and computer system fundamentals; knowledge of scripting in C, C++, PHP, SAS, Ruby, Perl, Python, JAVA, R Bioconductor and/or similar programming/analysis languages; skills in modeling large datasets using Spotfire, Tableau, Prism, SigmaPlot and other visualization packages; skill in analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to work with employees at all organizational levels, to solve a variety of problems and recommend and implement viable solutions.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or relevant field and 2 years relevant experience or a combination of relevant experience and education.

Bachelors Degree

Physical Demands:
Regularly moves about the work environment, talks, hears and listens. Occasionally lifts or moves up to 10 pounds. Requires the ability to see. The noise level and typical work conditions are consistent with an office environment.
