Do you love analyzing data and tackling interesting biological questions, but don't want to be a group leader – then this could be the job for you!RESPONSIBILITIES
The Furlong group is seeking a highly motivated computational biologist/ bioinformatician to work on cutting edge data in the field of transcriptional regulation. The position involves the analysis of diverse types of next generation sequencing (NGS) data, collaborating with experimental and computational biologists in a dynamic, open and creative culture. The successful candidate will lead data analyses to examine different aspects of genome regulation, such as chromatin state and transcription factor occupancy (using diverse ChIP-Seq experiments), nucleosome positioning (MNase-seq, DNAse1), gene expression (RNA-Seq, 5'-CAGE) and 3-dimensional nuclear structure (using 4C and Hi-C).
If you are passionate, dedicated, and excited to learn and improve your skills in an outstanding research environment, then we'd love to met you.REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants should have an appropriate Ph.D. in computer science, bioinformatics or biostatistics. Prior experience with analysis of NGS datasets (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, DNA-seq ...), R/Bioconductor, scripting languages (eg shell, python) and work in a unix environment is a must. Extensive experience in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of large datasets is required. The candidate should be able to work independently and also interact well within a team environment.
The successful applicant will be organized (communication is an important aspect of the job), open-minded, able to work on different projects in parallel, proactive (problem solving skills are essential) and have a user-oriented spirit. A working knowledge of English is essential.LOCALE
