    Position Summary:
    CCSB is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our bioinformatics team. Working closely with other members of the team, this person will provide bioinformatics support to all CCSB projects and help maintain CCSB bioinformatics infrastructure.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintain and expand a robust bioinformatics pipeline to process and analyze DNA sequencing data, mostly NGS and Sanger sequencing data, generated in ongoing CCSB projects.
    • Plan, design and construct databases and other software tools, including web-based tools, to store and manipulate data derived from both CCSB projects and from the public domain.
    • Work closely with internal and external wet-lab scientists to help design experiments and drive large-scale projects.
    • Work with CCSB scientists to develop solutions, algorithms and tools to improve the efficiency and capacity of CCSB bioinformatics platforms.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related degree with 2+ years of experience in bioinformatics, or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Proficiency with Python, Perl, Java or C/C++ in Linux/Unix environments
    • Working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL or Oracle
    • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Interactive, and flexible team player; eager to learn and willing to adapt to new challenges

    PREFERENCES

    Desired skills:
    • Familiar with handling large volumes of data
    • Demonstrated ability to process and analyze NGS data
    • Knowledge of biostatistics and/or mathematics, as well as experience with data analysis and respective software (e.g. R)
