RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful individual will provide bioinformatics support and development for an energetic research lab (the Reich laboratory), carrying out a wide variety of genetics research especially in the area of evolutionary biology and ancient DNA.
Typical projects include:- Preparing datasets for the analysis of population history
- Building, maintaining, and improving an easy-to-use database to support the ancient DNA laboratory
- A team of molecular biologists who will input information on each sample and use the database to track experiments
- A team of other bioinformaticians who will collaborate on automating analyses on the data using a variety of tools
- A team of population geneticists who will require processed data for further analyses
REQUIREMENTS
Basic Qualifications:
Masters degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience in bioinformatics. Advanced degree may count toward experience.
Additional Qualifications:
PhD preferred. Must have fluency in C/C++, Perl/Python/Ruby, MYSQL/PostgreSQL databases and a working knowledge of statistics.TERMS
