Job Overview & Responsibilities:
The Bioinformatician is a key position in the Bioinformatics Group within the Biomarkers and Personalized Medicine Business Unit. This position supports a wide range of data analysis demands. Focused disease areas are Oncology, Neurology, Immunology and other areas as required. The qualified candidate has a solid background in bioinformatics, statistical programming and data analysis skills. The position requires biomarker analysis of preclinical and clinical data and effective collaboration with other business units.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Conducting biomarker analysis of preclinical and clinical data under direction of supervisor
- Utilizing commercial and public data sets
- Developing analysis workflow and database for NGS and other types of data
- Implementing up-to-date statistical methods to integrate different types of omics data
- Other general bioinformatics tasks for biomarker research
- Responsible for keeping skills up-to-date
- Document preparation (e.g., monthly report, study report, study protocols, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
Job Qualifications:- Ph.D with 0-3 years of relevant experience in bioinformatics programming, experience in industry is required.
- Strong background in Bioinformatics, Statistics, Computer Science or other related fields
- Experience in omics data analysis programming such as (next generation sequencing, microarray, protein array, proteome/metabolome by mass spectrometry and pathway/network analysis)
- Independent problem-solving capability in programming field
- Excellent skills in R plus experience in some of other computer languages such as Ruby, Python, Perl, PHP, Java, C++ and C
- Proven experience developing software in Linux environment
- Flexibility to learn new technologies
- Basic knowledge in biology and pharmacology
- Experience in effectively collaborating/communicating with multi-disciplinary scientific teams
- Travel: Less than 5%. Some domestic and international travel may be required
