BACKGROUND

Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation (MCRF) is the largest private medical research institute in Wisconsin. MCRF is the research division of Marshfield Clinic, an integrated multispecialty health care system with over 750 physicians and 50 regional centers. MCRF employs with 31 Ph.D. and M.D. scientists and 155 other staff. MCRF research centers include Center for Clinical Research, National Farm Medicine Center, Epidemiology Research Center, Center for Human Genetics, and Biomedical Informatics Research Center. Research at MCRF is funded by a variety of federal agencies and other sources, including CDC, NIH, NIOSH, FDA, and private industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Postdoctoral Fellow – Biomedical Informatics contributes to ongoing research projects and proposes research projects suitable for external funding. The individual's scientific interests will be considered, however specific research activities will be determined in collaboration with the Director to reinforce goals of the Biomedical Informatics Research Center (BIRC). Research activities may include one or more of the following: human computer interaction in biomedicine; translational bioinformatics and the design of novel clinical research systems; clinical decision support systems; clinical ontology development; machine learning using the electronic health record; or data science.

This grant-funded position is available until early 2018.

REQUIREMENTS

PhD in Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related field, or MD with demonstrated strength in Biomedical Informatics. Two years of research experience (which may include dissertation preparation) within one domain of Biomedical Informatics. Experience with planning and carrying out research experiments and projects. Experience with publication of original research in peer‐reviewed sources required. Experience in multi-center research projects preferred.
