BACKGROUND

The University of Cincinnati Department of Biomedical Informatics seeks candidates for Assistant and Associate Professor positions. Faculty will be part of a new University initiative in cluster hiring to expand our existing interdisciplinary data analytics program in the Institute for Analytics Innovation. Analytics is an existing area of distributed expertise in the University that naturally cuts across multiple disciplines, acting as a catalyst for collaborations in business, engineering, healthcare, the sciences, and education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include establishing an independent research program in methodological and collaborative research focused on health care and analytics. The Department of Biomedical Informatics has strong ties with world-class biostatistics, bioinformatics, clinical informatics, and healthcare IT groups at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Children's Hospital. This environment provides rich collaborative opportunities in data and implementation science with a focus on comparative effectiveness and patient-centered outcomes research, performance improvement, decision support, translational medicine, and biomedical informatics. The faculty member will actively participate in the Department of Biomedical Informatics graduate and medical training programs.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and/or MD with expertise in decision sciences and in coalescing Big Data from molecular investigations and other sources with complex data from the patients' electronic medical record. Data integration will provide a fundamental link between health behaviors, phenotype and genotype in the context of individual health, and will facilitate patient-centered decision-making. A demonstrated record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and the ability to successfully compete for grant funding are essential.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in grant development, execution and project management as a project investigator; creativity, independence, and high motivation; experience in managing professional research staff in a research environment; excellent project management and communications skills; and proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
