BACKGROUND
The University of Illinois at Chicago's Center for Research Informatics is seeking two motivated individuals for the position of Research Associate II – Clinical Research Informatics Analyst
The Center for Research Informatics (CRI), within the Research Resources Center (RRC) at UIC, is a leading center for biomedical informatics and translational research that provides state-of-the art computing and statistical expertise to support the analytic activities related to genetics, genomics, transcriptomics, and epigenomics for the UIC and Chicago-area research community. The CRI serves and supports a broad cross-section of the UIC biomedical research community. The CRI, in collaboration with the Center for Clinical Translational Science (CCTS) Biomedical Informatics (BI) Core at UIC, provides the informatics infrastructure, clinical research data resources, and informatics services required in the translation of research from bench to bedside to community and back again. Efforts are directed towards providing user-friendly informatics tools and services, which promotes efficient, effective multi-directional flow of information among basic, animal, human, and public health researchers while minimizing the effects of traditional barriers that form research silos.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Center for Research Informatics (CRI) at UIC, is seeking a Research Associate II to perform the role of a Clinical Research Informatics Analyst. This position utilizes existing clinical data resources to address research requests from clinical, translational, and biomedical investigators. The Clinical Research Analyst assists the investigator in determining data needs for their request; develops reports, dashboards, and data marts; and conduct basic analyses to meet the investigator's needs. The position will prepare, organize and communicate research results; contribute to research abstracts, manuscripts, grants and other documents for planning new research and for publishing research findings.
Specific:- Consults with investigators on the clinical research informatics requirements for clinical, translational, and biomedical research projects and proposals. Develops a project plan to meet the project's informatics and analytical needs, which may include development of data marts, dashboards, reports or analyses utilizing various resources
- Develops, maintains, and validates reports, scorecards, and dashboards in utilizing various bioinformatics, data, and analytical tools
- Assists in the development of project specific data marts and applications. Provides research, technical, and business requirements from investigators to be used in the planning, design, and implementation of applications and interfaces
- Tests current clinical research data resources to determine their effectiveness. Analyzes and interprets data to ensure research applications are addressing the needs of investigators
- Prepares, organizes, and communicates data research results. Assists in the writing of papers, grants, and other documents for publication as appropriate
- Assists in the development, customization, and maintenance of a training program for project data models and bioinformatics applications and participate in ongoing training of clinical end users
- Performs other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Social, Health, or Computer Science or related field required
- Minimum of 1 year related clinical research experience
- Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Ability to work well with a creative team, as well as back-end developers
- Experience collaborating with a diverse group
PREFERENCES
- Additional 1-2 years' experience in the use and development of clinical research data tools within a healthcare setting
