BACKGROUND

The University of Cincinnati Department of Biomedical Informatics seeks candidates for Assistant and Associate Professor positions in the tenure and non-tenure research tracks to be based at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). We are seeking candidates with expertise in data-driven learning networks, clinical decision support, secondary use of data from clinical systems, biomedical NLP, risk modeling and profiling of complex disease, and the use of patient descriptions with molecular data for improved discovery, prediction, and diagnostics.

CCHMC is one of the largest children's hospitals in the nation and ranks at the top of pediatric medical centers in the world with respect to external funding and research accomplishments. The Department has strong ties with world-class biostatistics, bioinformatics, clinical informatics, and healthcare IT groups at Cincinnati Children's and the University of Cincinnati. This environment provides rich collaborative opportunities in data and implementation science, translational medicine, and health services research.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Establishing an independent research program in methodological and collaborative research focused on pediatric medicine, actively participating in the Department's graduate, and medical training programs, and synergizing with the Department's clinical informatics support services.

REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in health or life sciences or a related appropriate field. A demonstrated record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and the ability to successfully compete for grant funding are essential. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in grant development, execution and project management as a project investigator; creativity, independence, and high motivation; experience in managing professional research staff in a research environment; excellent project management and communications skills; and proven ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
