    BACKGROUND

    The Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratory (previously known as the Medical Genetics Laboratory of Baylor College of Medicine) is a joint venture between Baylor College of Medicine and Miraca Holdings. This environment provides an opportunity for interaction within one of the top-rated basic research and medical genetics programs in the United States as well as a clinical laboratory environment committed to operational excellence. It also provides an opportunity to train the clinical and laboratory fellows of the Medical Genetics Training Program at Baylor College of Medicine.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Active areas of molecular testing and development include next-generation sequencing of targeted gene panels, whole exome and genome sequencing, and universal carrier testing with continuing development of new tests and implementation of improved testing methodologies.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The candidate should hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, and be board certified or eligible in Clinical Molecular Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics. The successful candidate will help direct a large molecular diagnostic laboratory with more than 100 full-time laboratory staff including PhD level scientists.

    COMPENSATION

    Academic rank will be through the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor and competitive salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
