Opportunity: Proteomics Scientist -- Proteomics Core Facility @ EMBL -- Heidelberg, Germany
Submitted by EMBL Recruitment; posted on Wednesday, December 2, 2015

    BACKGROUND

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Proteomics Scientist to join the Proteomics Core Facility at EMBL Heidelberg. The Proteomics Core Facility provides scientific support in the areas of proteomics and structural biology for scientists at EMBL-Heidelberg and its outstations as well as for external visitors. The Facility offers services in the characterization and quantification of proteins and peptides by mass spectrometry, operating a range of state-of-the-art mass spectrometers and nano-flow liquid chromatography systems. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of sample preparation, analysis by LC-MS/MS and data interpretation. Close interaction with users and visitors of the Facility is an essential part of the job.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor, Master or a PhD degree in analytical chemistry or in one of the life sciences. Experience in proteomics or protein biochemistry is required, either in an academic or industrial setting. Experience in mass spectrometry is desirable. The candidate should be computer-literate, be able to work independently, be a team player and have the ability for independent critical thinking since trouble shooting is an essential part of the position. Good communication skills and fluency in English are essential; a working-knowledge of German is desirable but not imperative.

    HOW TO APPLY

    Please apply online through http://www.embl.org/jobs

    POLICY

EMBL is an inclusive, equal opportunity employer offering attractive conditions and benefits appropriate to an international research organisation.

Please note that appointments on fixed term contracts can be renewed, depending on circumstances at the time of the review.
