    Opportunity: Associate or Full Professor (Ladder Rank) Genetics -- Senior Researcher @ University of California San Diego

    BACKGROUND

    THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN DIEGO (UCSD) DEPARTMENT OF PEDIATRICS (http://www-pediatrics.ucsd.edu) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department of Pediatrics seeks applications for a ladder rank faculty position (Associate or Full Professor, tenured) as a Senior Researcher with expertise in the design and conduct of human translational research, with a focus on genomics, bioinformatics, and data analysis methods for human genetic studies, as well as integrated studies of human pathologies and health maintenance.

    UC San Diego's School of Medicine offers a research intensive environment with multiple opportunities for collaboration with colleagues at the UCSD Clinical and Translational Research Institute, the Moores UCSD Cancer Center, and other departments and external research institutes.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Candidates must have a PhD degree. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of outstanding peer-reviewed publications, an extramurally-funded research program, and the desire to contribute to medical and graduate education. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of multiple collaborative and interdisciplinary research studies and existing research in the design and conduct of human translational research in genomics, bioinformatics, and data analysis methods for human genetic studies, as well as integrated studies of human pathologies and health maintenance, or other relevant topics in this research field. Candidates are required to show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity by participating in teaching, research and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.

    PREFERENCES

    The preferred candidate comes with existing research funding and the desire to contribute to our educational mission. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in our undergraduate, graduate, and/or medical school programs and to mentor a growing group of junior faculty. The ideal candidate would have a strong track record of collaborative and interdisciplinary research and a willingness to participate in university service and help develop core university research services. Those demonstrating proven success and expertise in the design and conduct of human translational research, with a focus on genomics, bioinformatics, and data analysis methods for human genetic studies, as well as integrated studies of human pathologies and health maintenance will be of particular interest.

    San Diego, CA

    COMPENSATION

    Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor level and will include 100% full state funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
