Your gene map for only $621,500
Submitted by Abhik Shah; posted on Wednesday, September 25, 2002

Not exactly open-source bioinformatics but very cool nonetheless. This article talks about Craig Venter providing a service to map an individual's DNA for $621,500 (in about a week). I suppose it's not very useful now, but the fact that it can be done in under a million dollars and in a week is quite amazing. A sign of things to come I'm sure.
