    BACKGROUND:
    The Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute (http://www.cruk.manchester.ac.uk), an Institute of The University of Manchester (http://www.manchester.ac.uk), is a world-leading centre for excellence in cancer research. The Institute is core funded by Cancer Research UK (http://www.cancerresearchuk.org), the largest independent cancer research organisation in the world. We are adjacent to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust (http://www.christie.nhs.uk), one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. These factors combine to provide an exceptional environment in which to pursue basic, translational and clinical research programmes.

    Our aim is to understand the fundamental basis of cancer and apply that knowledge to developing new treatment strategies for cancer patients. Our advanced research programmes span a spectrum of cancer research, from the molecular and cellular basis of cancer through to drug discovery, translational research and clinical trials.

    The Institute has outstanding laboratory facilities and exceptional core services, including next generation sequencing, microarrays, confocal microscopy, bioinformatics, histology and mass-spectrometry.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Key responsibilities include:
    • Lead development of and ownership of process maps for clinical processes and iDecide projects.
    • In partnership with iDecide senior Architect ensure implementation of technical solutions are aligned to documented requirements.
    • Eliciting, gathering and documenting requirements from key stakeholders – patients, healthcare professionals and clinical study teams, involving:
      • Requirements analysis
      • Translating and simplifying requirements
      • Organisation of requirements
      • Management of requirements and communicating project progress
    • Developing business cases to support the development of key iDecide applications
    • Working with suppliers to communicate requirements and business cases
    • Planning and monitoring progress of systems, application and process development
    • Defining business requirements, including business and project plan development
    • Identifying functional and non-functional requirements, i.e. data models, technical specifications, use case scenarios, end user training and visualisations
    • Developing new clinical/clinical trial 'as-is' and 'to-be' processes to support clinical process reengineering
    • Contributing to the development of new capabilities, algorithms, tools and services that support Clinical teams
    • Contributing to the development of the Information architecture and strategic direction of iDECIDE Platforms
    • Shaping research activities to drive innovative informatics solutions within the iDECIDE scope
    • Earning the trust and respect of teams across The Christie NHS Foundation, The University of Manchester and CRUK Manchester Institute
    • Supporting publication and manuscript writing in high impact journals
    REQUIREMENTS:
    The successful application should have a PhD in a Life Science discipline including working with clinical data (or equivalent relevant experience) along with an IT Business analysis qualification which is desirable but not essential. IT Methodologies including, SCRUM/Agile experience, Test Driven Development (TDD), and Continuous Integration experience are essential, along with the developing of informatics methods in a clinical environment. They will have a proven ability of developing collaborative partnership across scientific disciplines, with significant experience of capturing, summarising and documenting requirements for presentation, decision making or use with third parties. Developing informatics methods in a clinical environment, as well as working with stakeholders including patients, clinicians, research scientists and other relevant functions such as statistics and IT. They will have analysing clinical data experience and manage expectations of stakeholders, reporting back on progress and getting input as required.

    TERMS:
    Duration: fixed term until 31 to December 2020

    We are situated in Manchester, England, a vibrant and dynamic city that is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has excellent transport links both nationally and internationally.

    COMPENSATION:
    Salary in the range of £30,100 - £49,100 dependent upon experience
