    BACKGROUND

    The Tissue Morphogenesis Department and the Regulatory Genomics Laboratory at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine in Muenster, Germany are offering a

    Postdoctoral Position in Genomics and Vascular Biology
    (position code 16-2016)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The laboratories, headed by Ralf Adams and Juanma Vaquerizas, seek to appoint a highly motivated scientist to work on genomic characterisations of the molecular mechanisms regulating angiogenesis. In particular, the successful candidate will analyse genome-wide gene expression and chromatin binding datasets to investigate how gene expression is controlled to determine cellular fate during blood vessel formation in different tissues. The specific tasks will include:
    • Analysis of cell- and tissue-specific RNA-seq datasets
    • Analysis of protein-DNA interactions using ChIP-seq
    • Integration of publicly available datasets relevant to the systems under study

    REQUIREMENTS

    We are looking for enthusiastic and talented Postdoctoral Fellows with a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, (bio)-statistics, mathematics, or related fields, and with a strong drive to excel in a highly international and collaborative environment. Previous experience in genome-wide data analysis (eg, RNA-seq or ChIP-seq) will be a significant advantage. Please make sure that you specify your level of proficiency in dealing with genomics data in your cover letter.

    TERMS

    The position is offered as a fixed-term appointment for two years with the possibility of further extension following a successful evaluation. The earliest starting date for the position is 1 Oct 2016.

    LOCALE

    The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine offers a highly international and stimulating research environment with state-of-the-art equipment and core facilities for genomics, proteomics and cell biology. The Institute is located in Muenster (http://www.muenster.de/en/), one of the European Green Capitals and former UN's `The World's Most Liveable City' awardee. Extra administrative help will be available for foreign scientists. English is the working language in the Institute.
