BACKGROUND

Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the Royal Veterinary College. This new post is part of a strategic initiative to strengthen the College's approach to quantitative biology in general and to support our research community in `omics data analysis in particular.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will promote the use of bioinformatics across areas of veterinary and biomedical research undertaken at the College, and lead their own research programme in areas that are aligned with the broad strategic priorities of our research programmes (Comparative Physiology and Medicine and Livestock Production and Health). The appointee will be expected to contribute significantly to upskilling post-graduate research students, contract researchers and academics in techniques and approaches for the analysis and modelling of complex datasets. We are particularly interested in applicants who are able to work at the population / ecosystem level with a focus on pathogen genetics, gene flow and selection within microbial systems, but all well-qualified applicants will be considered.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for candidates with a good first degree in Biological, Computer or Mathematical Sciences, and a postgraduate degree at PhD level in a field relevant to bioinformatics.
