    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation, seeks a Research Associate (Assistant Professor) for research focusing on the causes, treatments, and other aspects of human disease.

    The primary activity of the Research Associate (Assistant Professor) is academic research in association with a faculty member or team that has a primary research focus in using genomics, proteomics, or other analytic technologies for the study of cancer and other diseases. To carry out these functions, the successful candidate will work as part of a team of advanced bioinformaticians and computational programmers. Metrics of success will include the number and quality of collaborative efforts and manuscripts published.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants must have an MD and/or PhD, or equivalent degree, in cancer biology, biotechnology, or statistical genetics and three years of experience in genomics and related technologies. The successful candidate must have experience in: 1) developing high-throughput sequencing pipelines for the analysis of genomics data and/or the analysis of proteomics data, 2) scientific programming using R and other statistical programming languages, and 3) developing manuscripts for publication and grants for submission. A track record of successful publication and/or grant funding is preferred. Experience in developing and supporting platforms and tools to enable clinical research is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
