    Opportunity: Senior DBA using MongoDB and MS SQL (#RQ17185) @ CSRA -- Bethesda, MD (US)

    BACKGROUND

    CSRA has an opportunity for a Sr. Database Administrator to join our program in support of the NIH's Clinical Center. We are hiring someone who understands the importance of high productivity development and production DBA responsibilities, delivering top quality service that our NIH client has come to expect. On this program, CSRA helps support the a data warehouse that contains clinical research data collected as far back as 1976 on over 500,000 patients.

    Administers database technology technologies and systems and is responsible for backup, recovery, server architecture, performance tuning, security, auditing, metadata management, optimization, statistics, capacity planning, connectivity and other data solutions of mission critical database systems. Develops databases with SQL, stored procedures, triggers, applying transactional modeling, dimensional modeling, normalization, indexing methods, constraints and object usage.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide Database Administration in MongoDB
    • Provide Database Administration in MS SQL Server (2014 - 2016)
    • Troubleshoot and resolve the following: database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication and log shipping issues, connectivity issues, and security issues
    • Support backups, restores, database mirroring, replication, Change Data Capture
    • Support Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
    • Design databases including: logical & physical data design, tables, normalization techniques, relationships, primary & foreign keys, and data types
    • Support transactional, EAV and Dimensional modeling types
    • Perform SQL Development - write, troubleshoot and optimize SQL code and design (stored procedures, functions, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
    • Utilize knowledge of how indexes and statistics affect database performance and storage requirements. Including how to create and manage them effectively
    • Establish query coding standards, naming conventions, & data access policies
    • Provide 24x7-production support. Support responsibilities are rotated among the members of the Production Support team
    • Document the client's database environment, processes, & procedures
    • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of technical experience (or equivalent) or a MS degree and 3+ years of related experience or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
    • Extensive experience setting up and administering MongoDB and NoSQL databases
    • Experience with transactional, EAV and Dimensional modeling types

    PREFERENCES

    • Application development with MongoDB is strongly preferred
    • Experience with MS SQL Server is preferred*
    • Some Netezza background
    • Experience working in Agile development and operations environment
