    DESCRIPTION

    A great opportunity has come available for a Bioinformatician in Data Science to join a global biopharmaceutical leader transforming the lives of those with severe diseases. The client focuses on central nervous system and immunology disorders and aim to tackle unmet medical needs around the world.

    This is an ideal role for a bioinformatician to develop analytical pipelines to analyse different omics data (specifically proteomics and DNA methylation) from the clients' clinical project partners as well as public resources to stratify patients. You will closely work together with a broader team of data scientists and bioinformaticians.

    You will be part of a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary team all driven by a passion to improve our understanding of the molecular mechanisms that drive complex, chronic diseases and response to treatment.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Flexibility, genuine intellectual curiosity, ideation and eagerness to contribute are key elements of the position.
    • The individual should have a passion for mining, interpretation and visualization of biological data.
    • Extensive experience of implementing and executing omics data pre-processing and analysis pipelines, specifically DNA methylation and proteomics.
    • Understanding of different clustering approaches and basic machine learning concepts.
    • Deep knowledge of scripting in R or Python. Experience of method development in complied languages would be an advantage.
    • Confidence programming in a Linux / HPC environment, including shell scripting (bash, tcsh), text processing utilities (sed, awk), and tools for NGS data manipulation (bcftools and samtools)
    • Experience of cloud-based NGS pipelining environments such as DNA Nexus and Seven bridges would be an advantage.
