    BACKGROUND

    100,000 Genomes Project – Central London – Permanent

    The 100,000 genomes project is a challenging and fast moving project with the aim to carry out whole genome sequencing on 100,000 participants. At Genomics England there is a highly talented Bioinformatics team in place that is looking for experienced Project Managers with a Bioinformatics/Genomics background to join them.

    Genomics England works with key partners in research, pharmaceutical and academia to collect, store, QC and sequence samples from participants. The aim for this project is to create a new genomic medicine service for the NHS to support diagnosis and better treatments for patients. In time, this will truly transform the way people are cared for.

    In return you will have the opportunity to work in brand new offices in a fantastic location in Central London as part of the largest national genome sequencing effort of its kind in the world.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a Bioinformatics Project Manager your main responsibilities will be:
    • Proactively manage bioinformatics and genomic analysis projects from end-to-end
    • Assisting with collaborative development of bioinformatics and clinical interpretation platforms, to ensure that key milestones are met for their development, highlighting risks and ensuring resources are appropriately assigned
    • Interface with stakeholders such as NHS genomic medicine centres, scientists, clinicians, bioinformaticians and Genomics England working groups as needed to ensure the successful roll-out of software products and ensure customer requirements are met
    • Support and organise project meetings
    • Analysing, interpreting and presenting data to highlight issues of risks and support decision making

    REQUIREMENTS

    The ideal Bioinformatics Project Manager will meet the following requirements:
    • Experience of managing diverse projects and large initiatives
    • Strong record of leadership and successful delivery of projects across multiple stakeholder groups while under tight timelines
    • Commercial contract and partnership experience desirable, good with senior stakeholders
    • Project manager experience with excellent ability to interface with customers in clinical and software settings
    • Strong experience in the field of Bioinformatics, Genetics, Genomics
    • Experienced in managing software project development, deployment, or integration; experience with clinical genomics within a biotech/pharmaceutical organisation, research institute, or academic medical centre
