    BACKGROUND

    University of Nebraska Medical Center, The Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Anatomy invites applications for a Bioinformatics Analyst position. For more information see http://www.unmc.edu/genetics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsible for providing assistance with bioinformatic analysis and programming support for the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Core aimed at enhancing biomedical and translational research under the guidance of Core Director, Dr. Babu Guda. This will include carrying out very large-scale sequence data management and analysis procedures in close collaboration with users of the Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Core. In addition, this person will be responsible for running the data analysis pipelines and performing research development work as directed by the supervisor.

    REQUIREMENTS

    A BS/MS/PhD degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or related quantitative/biomedical discipline that includes coursework in computer programming, Biology and/or Genomics areas. Other requirements include programming experience in Python, Perl, R, Java, MATLAB, SQL or C/C++, and bioinformatics data analysis experience using tools and databases related to DNA, RNA and Proteins, biological pathways, etc.

    PREFERENCES

    Candidates with a graduate degree and relevant experience working with bioinformatics research datasets are preferred.

    COMPENSATION

    $45,300 - $60,000/year commensurate with experience
