    BACKGROUND

    A PhD position is available in the lab of Mira Han at University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Nevada Institute of Personalized Medicine.

    Two main research going on in the lab:
    • One focuses on studying the tissue specific expression of repeat elements and investigating the potential regulatory role of repeat elements, through analysis of existing ChIP-seq, eCLIP, RNA-seq and genetic datasets.
    • The other focuses on the studying the evolutionary constraint on insertion and deletion mutations, by estimating the indel rate in unstructured regions of the proteins and spacer regions between binding motifs in the DNA.
    Nevada Institute of Personalized Medicine was just awarded a $11.4M, 5 year Center of Biomedical Research Excellence P20 Grant from NIH in personalized Medicine.

    Beyond the project work, PhD candidates will have opportunity to interact with other computational biologists and molecular biologists in the Nevada Institute of Personalized Medicine, through workshops and seminars.
