    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Knowledge Systems Group at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks a Senior Scientist / Project Leader to lead the development of MatchMiner, our open source informatics platform for algorithmically matching cancer patients to precision medicine clinical trials.     We are seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the MatchMiner effort and broaden its impact at DFCI and other cancer centers. This is an exciting, open source platform that has the potential to affect thousands of patients across the U.S., and we need a creative leader, who can take the platform to the next level.
    • Serve as the primary product and project manager at DFCI for the open source MatchMiner platform.
    • Serve as the primary outreach coordinator for trial investigators and primary oncologists at DFCI.
    • Be the public face of MatchMiner and present the platform at internal stakeholder meetings and at external scientific conferences.
    • Oversee a team of bioinformatics engineers dedicated to the MatchMiner project.
    • Oversee the curation of genomic and other criteria for clinical trials as part of the MatchMiner platform.
    • Develop and oversee a systematic, IRB-approved plan to evaluate the impact of MatchMiner at DFCI
    • Write paper(s) describing the impact of MatchMiner.
    • Develop and coordinate an open source MatchMiner consortium across multiple NCI-designated cancer centers.
    • Write grants and secure long-term funding for the project.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • PhD in cancer biology, cancer genomics, or a related field with a strong clinical / translational cancer focus
    • Expertise in cancer genomics, and the clinical application of cancer genomics
    • At least three years of experience managing a cross-functional team of individuals with diverse skill sets
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
    • Excellent organization skills, including the ability to organize teams
    • Exceptional attention to detail
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Interest in or experience with (agile) software development
    The candidate must also demonstrate outstanding personal initiative, work effectively as part of a team, meet deadlines, and efficiently multitask.
