    BCforward is actively seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist for an opportunity in San Diego, CA.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop AI and statistical models for biological sequences and assay data.
    • Acquire, curate, and analyze data and deliver reports.
    • Independently plan and deliver projects to satisfy customer requirements.
    • Research and document scientists' requirements.
    • Document systems and design user training to ensure adoption and effective usage.
    • Collaborate smoothly with members of the customers' local informatics team and contractors.
    • Work under the direction of our management to satisfy the needs of customers' senior informatics staff, who will review project goals and implementations.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Experience with R, Python, or other language or platform with data science/statistics libraries
    • Knowledge of AI methodologies such as neural networks, support vector machines, knowledge bases, decision trees
    • Experience with data curation, data mining, and statistical analysis
    • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, mathematics, or statistics
    • Some education or experience in life sciences, such as biology, bioinformatics or computational biology is desirable.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently to analyze customer requirements and design solutions
    • Team player who can gain the cooperation of customers and end users

    TERMS

    Duration: Initial 1 year expected.

    COMPENSATION

    Pay: Hourly on W2
