BACKGROUND
A thriving Biotech specialising in developing pioneering diagnostic technologies for early stage cancer detection have released a brand new opportunity for a talented Data Scientist to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity that is suitable to a forward thinking, machine learning enthusiast with a passion for genomics and personalised medicine.RESPONSIBILITIES
What the role looks like:- Developing algorithms and imaginative machine-learning based solutions to gain insight from high-throughput sequence data
- Performing bespoke analysis of genomic data
- Identifying biomarkers from complex data
- Testing and maintaining the functionality of their inhouse biomarker discovery platform
REQUIREMENTS
What you should look like:- Machine Learning/Algorithm/AI enthusiast
- Experience working with high-throughput/NGS data including RNA-seq, DNA-seq, CHIP-seq, WGS, WGBS
- Strong programming skills, fluent in one or more data science languages eg. Python, Matlab, R, Julia
- Knowledge/experience working with epigenetic data/methylation/whole genome bisulphate sequence data would be highly desirable (but not essential!)
- MSc with significant industry experience or PhD/Post-doctoral experience in a related numerate discipline eg. Computational Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistical Genetics or Machine Learning, Bioinformatics
- Understanding of biomarker discovery or cancer genomics would be really useful
