    Opportunity: Scientist (f/m) for Bioinformatics Opportunity @ Helmholtz Zentrum München -- Dresden, Germany

    BACKGROUND

    As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.

    The Paul Langerhans Institute Dresden (http://www.plid.de) is a satellite institute of the Helmholtz Zentrum Mùˆnchen at the University Hospital and Faculty of Medicine "Carl Gustav Carus" of TU Dresden and founding partner of the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD e.V.), which is funded by the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). The DZD itself combines experts from all areas of diabetes research, so that basic research, epidemiology, translational research and clinical application deeply interconnect. Research focus of the PLID is the production and protection of the pancreatic islet beta cells for the prevention and therapy of all forms of diabetes.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Further development of an IPI overarching bioinformatics interface with local structures (including the DRESDEN-concept Genome Center, TUD)
    • Scientific support with all bioinformatic research questions of the institute
    • Development of new analysis methods and new standard pipelines with the aim of analysis optimization and acceleration as well as compression without information loss of produced data

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Degree as Diploma Bioinformatician
    • Advanced experience in the bioinformatic analysis of NGS data
    • High motivation and distinct team player
    • Good communication skills

    TERMS

    The position is (initially) limited to two years.
