    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Job Summary/Basic Function:
    The Scientific Technical Writer is responsible for producing accurate, clear, and interesting content for manuscripts, grants, reports, and presentations.

    Applies scientific principles and biomedical knowledge to understand, organize, and describe complex data for scientific, medical, and lay audiences. Coordinates input from a multi-disciplinary team while meeting tight deadlines. Helps write and proofread key documents. Maintains familiarity with relevant research, conducts literature reviews, and manages references. Assists with the design, development, and selection of scientific illustrations, tables, and figures. Submits manuscripts and tracks manuscript status from conceptualization through publication. Identifies funding opportunities. Maintains boilerplate text describing facilities, resources, and standard procedures. Summarizes research results for lay audiences and community stakeholders.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Qualifications:
    MS or MA degree in a related field and/or at least four years of related experience and/or training. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work independently on complex tasks. Attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Ability to read, analyze and interpret an extensive variety of scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    MD and/or PhD in related field. Immunology and/or clinical rheumatology experience a plus. Previous experience with statistics and scientific and/or grant writing strongly preferred. Proficiency in EndNote and GraphPad Prism.
