BACKGROUND
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources Department of Agronomy and Horticulture (https://agronomy.unl.edu) invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate position in the Libault Lab in the Center for Plant Science Innovation (PSI, http://www.unl.edu/psi/).RESPONSIBILITIES
The postdoctoral associate will work on bioinformatics or computational biology, genomics, epigenetics, and gene regulatory networks to compare the responses of different crop species to both biotic and abiotic stresses. Using next generation sequencing datasets, the candidate will focus on a comparative analysis of these responses between crop species, at the level of isolated plant single cells. This project presents opportunities to work in a collaborative environment with computational and molecular biologists. University of Nebraska provides a stimulating atmosphere with excellent facilities including bioinformatics facilities and colleagues for high-quality research in agricultural and plant sciences.REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Genomics, or a closely related field at the time of hiring. The ability to manage large-scale sequencing data is essential. Practical experience of next-generation sequencing data analysis, computational systems biology and data integration, and solid knowledge in plant genomics, evolution, gene expression/regulation and biological networks is highly desirable. Proven skills in programming (Linux/Unix environments) and algorithm design are also desirable. A background in molecular and plant biology is preferred.PREFERENCES
Preference will be given to self-motivated candidates with evidence of publications, excellent communication skills, an ability to work well in a team environment, and strong interest in crop improvement.COMPENSATION
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.HOW TO APPLY
To view details of the position and make application, go to http://employment.unl.edu, requisition F_190069. Click "Apply to this job" and complete the information form. Attach a letter of interest explaining candidate's research interests and how they fit with this position; a curriculum vitae; contact information for three professional references, including phone numbers and emails; and three selected publications.
