BACKGROUND
National Jewish Health has a Programmer/Database Engineer/Bioinformatics Analyst opportunity available for talented and highly motivated individuals to join Dr. Davidson in the Center for Genes, Environment & Health and Biomedical Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Programmer/Database Engineer/Bioinformatics Analyst will manage, maintain and expand an existing database with bacterial genomics data and clinical outcome information with the goal of studying infectious disease dynamics. The successful candidate will perform bioinformatic and statistical pipelines to pre-process and analyze genomics data, and write custom scripts and programs to integrate diverse data types. The Programmer/Database Engineer will support the Principal Investigator and other research scientists with preparing datasets and performing large-scale biomedical research studies. Previous experience with SQL, R and Python (or Perl) is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, biology, chemistry or any related field required. 1-3 years of experience in programming, databases, and/or data management required.
