    Opportunity: Looking for a bioinformatician for a lab @ The Weizmann institute -- Rehovot, Israel

    BACKGROUND

    The Avraham lab at the Weizmann Institute is seeking a motivated bioinformatician (student or intern) for the study of host-pathogen genomics. Learn about our work in the homepage: (http://www.weizmann.ac.il/Biological_Regulation/avraham).

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop and implement new machine learning signatures and computational algorithm for the use of predictions of infectious disease outcomes (see our recent work: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-11257-y).
    • Analyze multi-dimensional clinical and biological single cell RNA-seq data.
    • Work with our research teams on designing the studies.
    • Participate in writing and publication of scientific papers.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Work in the lab is highly cross-disciplinary and collaborative. Candidates should have:
    • Degree in computer science, bioinformatics or equivalent
    • Bioinformatics or biostatistics background
    • Familiarity with machine learning
    • Experience with analysis of high throughput data and data mining – Advantage
    • Strong statistical background – Advantage
    • Team player with excellent communication skills
