    DESCRIPTION:
    The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego (https://apptrkr.com/1845990) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department, Shiley Eye Institute, and UCSD Vision Research are expanding. The Department is recruiting a clinician scientist in biomedical informatics and/or artificial intelligence.

    The successful candidate will meet and consult with other scientists and researchers to analyze data sets utilizing computational tools.

    Candidates must have an MD, PhD or MD/PhD. Candidates with an MD must be board eligible or board certified and must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

    Candidates must have the experience in creation of data algorithms and specialized computer software skills to identify and classify components of a biological system, such as DNA and protein sequences.

    Candidates with experience in creating mathematical models, develop dynamic simulations, and perform pattern analyses of biological systems in the Ophthalmology field are preferred. Candidates with outstanding productivity in research and clinical care are preferred.

    The appropriate series and appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor Rank based on candidate's experience and qualifications. Series will include Ladder Rank, In-Residence with secured extramural funding, Clinical X, HS Clinical and Adjunct.

    COMPENSATION:
    Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. Appointments may require candidates to be self-funded.
