    National Jewish Health has a Bioinformatics Analyst opportunity available for a talented and highly motivated individual to join Dr. Davidson in the Center for Genes, Environment & Health and Biomedical Department.

    This position can be filled at the Bioinformatics Analyst I, Bioinformatics Analyst II or Bioinformatics Analyst III level based on education and years of experience.

    Position Description:

    The Bioinformatics Analyst will:
    • Perform bioinformatic and statistical pipelines on a high performance computing cluster to pre-process and analyze bacterial genomic and transcriptomic data.
    • Write custom scripts and programs to visualize and integrate diverse data types with the goal of studying infectious disease dynamics.
    • Support the Principal Investigator, collaborators and the research team in preparing datasets and performing large-scale biomedical research studies.
    Previous experience with Linux, R and Python (or Perl) is preferred.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bioinformatics Analyst I: Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) required in bioinformatics, biostatistics or computer science OR related field. Masters or PhD in computational field preferred. A minimum of 1 year of applied experience required. Must be proficient in at least 1 programming language (e.g. python, C++ , JAVA, Etc.) and have a background in utility programming (Bash, AWK, Perl, BioPerl, R, Matlab and other languages) in a Linux environment.

    Bioinformatics Analyst II: Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS) required in bioinformatics, biostatistics or computer science or related field required. Masters or PhD in computational field preferred. A minimum of 3 years of applied experience required. Must be proficient in at least 2 programming language (e.g. python, C++ , JAVA, Etc.) and have a background in utility programming (Bash, AWK, Perl, BioPerl, R, Matlab and other languages) in a Linux environment.

    Bioinformatics Analyst III: Master of Science (MS) in bioinformatics, biostatistics or computer science or related field required. PhD in the computational field preferred. A minimum of 5 years of applied experience required. Advanced skills in utility programming (C Shell, Perl, BioPerl, JAVA, and other languages) in a Linux environment, as well as designing, developing, and programming databases (e.g. Oracle, MySQL) preferred.
