    Opportunity: Director of Computational Biology @ A global pharma company -- Germany

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    This is a director level role working with a global pharma company based in Germany. A successful candidate will take lead of various teams and functions within the company in a highly strategic position, driving the direction of the group.

    This would include leading the Computational Biology Function, Infrastructure & Analysis, Data Strategy, Governance and Integration, Ontologies and Semantics and Therapeutic Area Relationships in order to deliver comprehensive data science and computational biology to all therapeutic areas. This would be for target and biomarker discovery, patient selection and disease stratification insights.

    If successful in the role you will Initiate patient-centric research initiatives to shift computational biology focus to a more systematic and strategic acquisition, integration and analysis of patient-derived samples and datasets and Real-World Evidence Data internally and through dedicated partnerships.

    Other responsibilities Include:
    • Managing the genomics team responsible for Next Generation Sequencing services serving in Germany, supporting all Research TAs as well as other functions within the company
    • Contribute to coordination of global Computational Biology data and expertise platforms in collaboration with other research centre's around the world.
    • Develop strategic alignment with key interface functions across the company, to develop a data science strategy that supports strongly patient-centric approaches throughout the life cycle of a product.
    • Lead, coordinate and manage the research group Computational Biology & Genomics (24 reports) within the department Target Discovery Research.
    • Overall responsibility for generation of necessary RNA/DNA-sequencing data using NGS or single cell analysis (internal lab and CRO), statistical and biological analysis (incl. machine learning) and interpretation of internally produced and externally available biomedical data
    • Generation of New Therapeutic Concepts and discovery of novel biomarkers in collaboration with therapeutic areas Immunology & Respiratory, Cardio-Metabolic, CNS-diseases, Cancer Immunology and Research Beyond Borders
    • Responsible for setting up and managing a network of external collaborations with a focus on New Therapeutic Concept generation and biomarker discovery
