    Opportunity: Bioinformatics Principal Scientist @ A global pharmaceutical company -- Europe

    A global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Europe is looking to grow their Translational Science function in Denmark, and is currently seeking an experienced Senior Bioinformatician to join their Data Analytics team. This is a Principal Scientist opportunity that will support computational innovations in drug discovery through the integrative analysis of complex internal & external biological data-sets.

    This position will contribute to the bioinformatics analysis for all pre-clinical research projects, as well as taking an active role as bioinformatics expert in a number of research collaborations with partners from academia and the biotech industry. This work has an enormous and real impact for patients across the world, by developing innovative treatment options for as of yet, unmet medical needs.


    Main responsibilities will include:
    • Working closely with the scientists to deliver efficient computational analysis solutions to support decision making in pre-clinical drug discovery projects
    • Drive innovation and excellent in bioinformatics, advocating novel approaches and methods to accelerate the drug discovery process.
    • Utilising broad expertise across advanced analytics, bioinformatics and diseases biology to identify disease pathways, discover novel targets and biomarkers, and understand disease heterogeneity
    • Confidently communicating complex bioinformatics ideas to multi-disciplinary teams consisting of non-Informaticians from diverse backgrounds


    The ideal candidate will have:
    • A PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science or a related discipline
    • Significant level of experience either from within a pharmaceutical setting or from holding a Senior/Leadership position within an academic group
    • Expert working knowledge of the bioinformatics tools, concepts and approaches for pharmaceutical drug discovery
    • Knowledge of cardio-metabolic disease mechanisms would be advantageous
    • Demonstrated experience of having contributed to target and biomarker discovery projects
    • A real passion for innovation, creativity and an openness to ideas in the drug discovery space as well as having the experience and knowledge necessary to deliver strong scientific results
    • A strong publication record
    • Fantastic communication skills
