Opportunity: Research Associate in Machine Learning @ University of British Columbia (UBC) -- Vancouver, BC, Canada

BACKGROUND
A part-time position is available for a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate (RA, post-Ph.D.) to take a leading role in the development of new computational prediction tools. The position will be held within the Michael Smith Laboratories (MSL) at the University of British Columbia (UBC), under the supervision of Prof. Jörg Gsponer.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in computer science, and at least 5 years of post-doctoral research experience. Candidates with specific experience in machine learning methods such as SVMs and Deep Learning will be strongly favored. Moreover, candidates must have experience in developing prediction tools for intrinsically disordered proteins and protein conservation. The project will focus on the development of new predictors of interaction-prone regions in intrinsically disordered proteins as well as sites that bind them. Excellent oral and written English communication skills, the proven ability to work as part of a team, and demonstrated project leadership capabilities including formal report writing are essential. The applicant is expected to have published in high-profile journals.
