    BACKGROUND

The French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (INRAE) is a public research establishment with a community of 12,000 people. The institute is among the world leaders in agricultural and food sciences, in plant and animal sciences. INRAE is recruiting a research scientist in string processing, offering a permanent position at MIAT lab near Toulouse, France.

In this laboratory, you will join the Statistics and Algorithms for Biology team, made up of 8 researchers and engineers, in computer science and statistics, with specific skills in combinatorial optimization, machine learning, data mining, graph and network analysis and inference. In order to expand its skills, the SaAB team is looking for a researcher specialized in string processing, able to develop creative methods on graphs and advanced data structures.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

Using your skills in sequence algorithms, large graphs analysis, and/or data compression, you will develop original methods to integrate more efficiently multi-source data. At first, these original methods could be applied for instance for assembling complex genomes of agronomic interest. You will join the national and international communities in string processing and benefit from the numerous applied collaborations of your host team.

    REQUIREMENTS

You have a PhD, preferably in computer science or artificial intelligence. Expertise in string processing and advanced data structures is highly recommended. Additional skills in stochastic models and combinatorial optimization would also be appreciated. Interest in biological issues, or even experience in interdisciplinary research at the frontier with biology, would be an asset.

    TERMS

The gross annual salary in euros is starting at ~30,000€.

    LOCATION
