BACKGROUND
The University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking a bioinformatics scientist to be housed in the Division of Research and Innovation. The successful candidate will provide bioinformatics services to faculty from multiple departments and engage with other core research facilities. The successful candidate will consult with Principal Investigators to meet their complex needs and provide advanced informatics analyses. The successful candidate will also interact within a larger, university-supported computing and core facility teams to meet researchers' needs. The successful candidate brings together elements of computational/ bioinformatics expertise to promote exchange of data, integrate pipelines, and to analyze and integrate multiple data types including but not limited to transcriptomics, metabolomics and proteomics.

- Promotes and enables state-of-the-art informatics analyses.
- Works closely with the other core facilities managers and the VPRI to address bioinformatics needs.
- Implements the addition of new services and tools to the core based on PI need.
- Assists PIs to analyze and interpret multiple data types, generating insights and testable hypotheses, and respective reports for research projects, grants and manuscripts.
- Provides guidance in data analysis, data integration and data visualization.
- Assists in data mining and computational analysis of large public databases for PI projects.
- Oversees maintenance of informative web sites and other investigator outreach materials.
REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.PREFERENCES
Experience in a highly collaborative environment such as a core facility and/or a record of published collaborative research with multiple groups and data types is highly desirable.LOCATION
