Philip Morris USA, a global leader in the manufacturing and marketing of consumer products made for adults, seeks a Post Doctoral Research Fellow to join us at our Research, Development and Engineering headquarters in Richmond, VA.

We are seeking a uniquely qualified bioinformatics scientist to support cutting edge research in the field of plant genomics. Specifically, the successful candidate will work interactively with Philip Morris USA scientists and company-funded researchers at various academic institutions to develop computational tools that will facilitate gene discovery and annotation from data generated as part of a major project sponsored by Philip Morris USA.

Qualified candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in either the biological or computer sciences and have experience and a publication record in bioinformatics and/or genomics research. Candidates who have experience applying computer science expertise toward biological research projects are especially desired. The successful candidate will possess these qualifications and will be well versed in standard databases and software applicable to DNA and protein research. Expertise with object-oriented programming and scripting tools (JAVA, C++, PERL, XML, BPEL4WS etc.) and experience working interactively with biological scientists in problem solving is also desired.
