    The Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB) conference, scheduled for August 19-23, is ``sold out,'' despite the original announcement that ``walk-in registration'' would be allowed. The conference is one of the oldest and most highly attended of bioinformatics conferences. ISMB coordinators met on Wednesday (July 26) to consider letting more people attend, but have instead decided to create a waiting list. According to Amber Weigelt, a conference registrar, dozens of people are now on the waiting list. This includes those who have already been scheduled to make presentations. How someone can make a presentation without actually attending the conference seems to escape the coordinators.
