Bioinformatics position in Research Triangle Park, NC.
Duties:
Research and develop computational algorithms and statistical methods for the analysis of microarray data and biological information. Evaluate current and emerging data analysis and data mining approaches on the basis of their relevance and utility to analyze microarray data and discover heuristic knowledge from gene expression profiles.
Requirements:
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in bioinformatics or computational biology with proven applied statistics, algorithm development and/or computational methods implementation at the MS (+ at least 2 years experience)/Ph.D. level. A degree in statistics, biostatistics, applied physics, bioinformatics, computational biology or equivalent is desired.
Excellent written and fluent oral communications skills required.
Experience with several statistical computing packages, including SAS, S-Plus, R, and/or MatLab and other software packages for microarray analysis such as Cluster/TreeView, Spotfire, GeneSpring, etc.
Experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle, SQL, and the application of these computing technologies to managing biological data and systems.
